Expected behaviours of parents

To ensure every session is safe, positive, and focused on your child’s wellbeing, we ask all parents and carers to follow these expectations—wherever your session takes place:

Put Your Child First

  • Prioritise your child’s safety, comfort, and emotional needs at all times.
  • Listen to your child and support them to feel valued and secure.

Be Respectful and Positive

  • Treat your child, the supervising professional, and any other adults involved with respect and courtesy.
  • Use positive language and avoid any behaviour that could be seen as intimidating, threatening, or disrespectful.
  • Never use physical punishment, shouting, or humiliating language.

Follow the Agreed Plan

  • Stick to the arrangements and boundaries agreed for the session.
  • Cooperate with the supervising professional and be open to feedback or guidance.

Keep Sessions Safe

  • Do not attend a session under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or bring any prohibited items.
  • Supervise your child appropriately and follow any safety instructions given.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of everyone involved.

Be Reliable and Prepared

  • Arrive on time and let us know as soon as possible if you are delayed or unable to attend.
  • Bring any items your child may need (snacks, comfort items, medication, etc.), as agreed.

Protect Children from Adult Conflict

  • Do not involve your child in adult disputes or speak negatively about other family members in front of them.
  • Avoid discussing court matters or disagreements during the session.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to the supervising professional immediately.

Safeguarding is Everyone’s Responsibility

  • If you see or hear anything that worries you about a child’s safety or wellbeing, speak up straight away.

By working together and following these guidelines, we can make every session a safe, supportive, and positive experience for your child. Thank you for helping us put children first.
